Regionally certified Muscadet is found on the edge of the vale of the Loire vineyards, the 3rd largest wine producing area in France. It carries the AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) label, guaranteeing its geographical authenticity, covering almost 10,000 hectares.
Sèvre et Maine, Coteaux de la Loire, Côtes de Grand Lieu and local Muscadets have made their mark and over the years have become sublime accompaniments to the most exquisite dishes. The ‘sur lie’ label gives the Nantes appellation and indicates that once the wine is bottled, it has been in contact with the yeast from fermentation for a minimum of 6 months. This yeast has a high mineral content and gives the wine its beading and fruitiness. Mostly known as a young wine, growers are now producing Muscadets to amaze the connoisseurs and rivalling the finest of French wines.
Muscadet has unsuspected personality, that of a lively and playful authentic regional wine which goes marvellously with seafood and fish. Kept for a few years it makes the ideal accompaniment to poultry, cheese such as goats’ cheese, and also for Asian and vegetarian cuisine. Muscadet is your ideal companion on your taste travels!
Gros plant, Coteaux d’Ancenis from various grape varieties offers a lovely range of Loire wines to drink with our regional dishes.
