“Les Tables de Nantes” aims to reflect the quality and diversity of Nantes’ culinary scene, whilst also promoting its unique identity to the city’s diverse audiences: residents of the metropolitan area, of course, but also business and leisure travellers.
“Les Tables de Nantes” guide selects establishments offering fresh, inventive cuisine that evolves with the seasons, harvests and catches… Cuisine that is open to the world, not set in its ways, constantly reinventing itself, yet also mastering the classics and taking into account the environmental challenges shaping the evolution of society. Above all, these are restaurants that do not lose sight of the fundamentals: flavour, a warm atmosphere, service, and their producers and winegrowers. This is a daily mission driven not only by the chefs, but also by their kitchen teams, front-of-house staff and all the teams involved, who together ensure collective success.
Thus, the pursuit of enjoyment, value for money, the originality of the menu, the setting, the cuisine and a responsible approach – in short, the factors that make guests want to return and/or recommend a restaurant – are essential to the selection process. Just as important are the establishments that enrich and leave their mark on Nantes as a destination.
This guide forms part of the culinary promotion initiative launched by Le Voyage à Nantes: to showcase the expertise of professionals, raise awareness of local produce, and highlight the vibrancy of the regional culinary scene. A number of initiatives contribute to the success of this ambition, which focuses in particular on supporting the promotion of Loire wines.
Comprising around twenty prominent figures with a passion for cooking, all of whom are volunteers, the jury is responsible for selecting the establishments featured in the guide. With profiles, skills and expectations that complement one another, the jury is partially renewed each year.
This joyful academy, sometimes stormy, always honest, seeks to visit all the establishments that wished to participate to “Les Tables de Nantes” by returning an application form in good timing. Procedure sometimes difficult to meet for some! Therefore, you may seem some addresses are missing…
To develop the selection, the jury is based on an evaluation grid whose criterias are:
– Freshness, quality and origin of used products;
– The culinary expertise, respect of products, proposals originality;
– The enhancement of Loire wines and especially wines from Nantes (Muscadet, Gros Plant, Coteaux d’Ancenis and Fiefs Vendéens);
– the welcoming quality, the decor and the atmosphere;
– To own or manage a catering establishment (fast food, fine dining, bistro, etc.) operating on a long-term basis where customers can be seated;
– The establishment must be situated within the boundaries of the Loire-Atlantique department (44), in the Nantes Métropole area and/or the Nantes wine-growing region.

Nantes winegrowers are talented and restaurateurs are proud to work with them and offer their wines to enhance their dishes. Les Tables de Nantes support this process of promoting local products, by highlighting the most fervent defenders of Muscadet thanks to the “I Love Muscadet” distinction.
The “I Love Muscadet” badge indicates the establishments in the selection which offer at least 5 Vins de Nantes AOC wines on the wine list. Signage to be found on the site, in the paper guide and affixed to restaurant windows.

Le guide des Tables de Nantes is published by the public company Le Voyage à Nantes, holder of the tourism public service delegation entrusted and financed by Nantes Métropole.
